Following the release of Shep’s new product, Notify, at the outbreak of COVID, we’ve had multiple large companies want to accelerate their launch of the dynamic notification tool to their entire global workforce. This shows that a global threat demands a global response. The need to provide guided buying capabilities to all employees is key to speeding up the re-opening of corporate travel.
We initially launched Notify in March to 20 countries but quickly started adding more and are pleased to announce that the Notify extension is now available in 35 countries.
Hyper-Relevant and Timely Vs. Too Little Too Late
Most online booking tools (OBTs) have notification capabilities but we’ve heard time and again that they take too long to update and are usually too generic. Because they rarely are relevant, travelers tend to ignore them.
Providing consistent and relevant “point-of-browse” guidance on the OBT or consumer sites though Notify is much more efficient and actionable. Traditional, asynchronous communication (phone calls, intranet sites, handouts, or emails) don’t work for the current dynamic risk environment that COVID-19 presents. They are either:
- Too early – “I’m not ready to book travel”
- Not relevant – “This doesn’t’ relate to me/my trip”
- Too late – “I’ve already booked/returned from my trip”
COVID-19 is a Global Problem
Despite being a US-based company, we immediately realized that if we truly hoped to speed business travel’s reopening with real-time guidance and personalized contextual data, we had to dramatically expand the reach and capabilities of our tools.
Starting in March, we expanded from the initial two countries to 20 and in June, expanded to 35 countries. The selection of these is driven by customer needs and while we can rapidly add more, we have to gradually grow our reach as each country requires us to map the relevant travel sites.
