Communications and compliance leader, Shep, has entered into a strategic partnership with Danish travel risk intelligence company, Riskline. This partnership will allow Shep’s customers to automatically access Riskline’s state-level COVID-19 risk intelligence guidance as they search for business travel on multiple travel sites, from consumer sites like Expedia, Hotels.com, and Delta to corporate booking tools like Concur and GetThere.

Using browser extension technology, Shep is able to “see” the destination a corporate employee is searching for and then “ask” Riskline for up-to-date information about that destination. This includes COVID-19 information like travel restrictions, self-quarantine requirements and mask protocols at a country level globally, and in the US, Canada, Australia, France and Spain, at a state/province level.

Travel data is needed at a local level

While travel continues to be depressed due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the emergence of successful vaccines has seen some travel start to return. In business travel, that return is mostly domestic, with a recent GBTA survey reporting that 40% of US businesses had already resumed non-essential domestic business travel.

While the return of domestic business travel is a good indicator of the recovery, it has created a lot of confusion about regional requirements and restrictions. Most data sources have good international COVID information at a country level but finding more granular state-level information can be challenging. Employees knew what was required if they traveled from New York to London but less so from New York to New Jersey.

Riskline’s data is at a state level

With Shep’s newly integrated COVID-19 state-level information from Riskline, travelers now can get that information as they search for their travel in 4 supported OBTs and more than 1,000 consumer sites.

As they state on their website,

“Riskline has closely tracked developments associated with the SARS-CoV-2 virus – the cause of the novel coronavirus 2019 disease (COVID-19) pandemic – since late 2019 and communicated real-time intelligence to our clients and partners via Alert messages, Travel Advisories, Special Reports, Informer articles and the COVID-19 microsite and public maps.”

Shep is now able to pop up COVID-19 guidance including mask requirements, vaccination protocols, testing guidelines and more at a country, state, and even city level in some cases. The countries that Riskline currently provides state or province-level information are the US, Canada, France, Australia, and Spain.

One source of truth on multiple websites

With Riskline being just the latest integration, Shep continues to connect into vital data sources and workflows so that employees can be delivered the information they need at the moment they need it almost anywhere they shop for travel.
